Nitrox Membranes for Diving
Semi Permeable Membrane Systems have been being used in the diving business since the early 90's. Pioneered by companies such as Undersea Breathing Systems and Nuvair, these systems have made production of Nitrox for dive operations simple and hassle free. But they do require maintenance as do all machines.
Most are mated with a Low Pressure industrial compressor that pumps air through filtration and into the membrane system that includes a heating element. The membrane separates the Oxygen and Nitrogen molecules through a process called permeation, and removes the Nitrogen to produce a higher concentration of Oxygen. This is controllable through regulation and adjustment allowing the user to set their desired output to the most optimum Oxygen percentage.
The membrane systems in use today use filtration to be sure the air quality is of the highest grade, the compressors are modified to be able to work with the membrane system, and the oils that are used are always highest of quality polyalphaolefin (PAO) oils.
High Pressure compressors compress the Nitrox product as it comes out of the membrane system and pumps that into either storage tanks or directly into the scuba bottles.
All of these components require an intensified maintenance schedule that is more stringent than your typical compressor service regiment. Here at Zephyr Diversified we have extensive knowledge and understanding of the process and equipment that is encompassed in your typical Nitrox Generator and can provide the upmost best service on these systems.
